Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a condition that often slips through the cracks of the health care system.  It is characterized by widespread pain, fatigue, feeling foggy, lack of sleep, memory and mood issues.  Fibromyalgia also amplifies pain sensations to feel extremely painful; by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals.

In general, treatments for fibromyalgia include both medication AND alternative medicine.  The goal is to minimize the symptoms and increase quality of life.  Certain medications such as analgesics, antidepressants and anti-seizure drugs are often useful in reducing certain types of pain and reducing fibromyalgia symptoms.  When used in combination with alternative therapies for pain and stress management, medication use can be decreased and eventually eliminated.

If you have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia or suspect that you may have it, call or book an appointment for an evaluation and discussion of your treatment options.
